The essentials first
With our transport to medical examinations, we take you to your appointment – for example for an MRI, CT or X-ray, for chemotherapy or radiotherapy or for a follow-up check – and back again afterwards. We accompany you to the reception desk and collect you there again, by stretcher, in a wheelchair or seated.
Typical uses
- Imaging: MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound
- Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
- Follow-up checks after an operation
- Examinations for care home residents
- Specialist consultations at another hospital
All the way to reception – and collected again
Large hospitals are difficult to find your way around, and getting from the entrance to the right department is the most strenuous part for many patients. That is why we do not just take you to the hospital, but all the way to the reception desk of the department where you have your appointment.
After the examination, we collect you from there again. If the appointment takes longer than planned, just let us know or ask the department to call us – we will adjust the return journey.
After therapy, the journey home is what counts
After chemotherapy, radiotherapy or an examination under sedation, you should not drive yourself and often should not travel alone on public transport either. We take you home safely and accompany you right into your flat.
For recurring therapies, we set up a fixed routine with the same times. That way you get to know your staff, and we get to know your needs.

Frequently asked questions: Transport to medical examinations
Do you wait during the examination?
For short appointments, we wait if you wish. For longer examinations, we carry out other jobs in the meantime and collect you again at the agreed time. When you book, please tell us roughly how long the appointment is expected to take.
Does my health insurer pay for journeys to examinations?
If the transport is medically necessary and prescribed by a doctor, basic health insurance (KVG) generally covers 50 per cent of the costs, up to an annual maximum. You will find the details on our page on costs and health insurance.
Can you take me to an examination lying down?
Yes. If sitting is not possible, we transport you by stretcher, with a second transport assistant and an appropriately equipped vehicle.

The first IVR-recognised patient transport service in north-western Switzerland
Recognition by the Swiss Interassociation for Rescue Services (IVR/IAS) is not a self-assessment but the result of an external audit of vehicles, equipment, training and procedures. Mobimed was the first patient transport provider in north-western Switzerland to receive it — and still holds it today.
